National Parks & Monuments of America’s Midwest

Platinum DreamTrip
See some true American wonders — Grand Tetons, Devils Tower, Black Hills & Mount Rushmore — with overnight stops at lodges in Yellowstone & Custer State Park & a ranch near Bighorn Mountains. Plus, enjoy a Buffalo Bill Center visit, horseback ride, tour of Deadwood & much more. (AGES 5+ ONLY)
Book by February 13.

About Your Trip

There’s no better way to see the American Midwest than by the open road. On this Platinum DreamTrip for guests ages 5 years and older, you’ll travel in a luxury, air-conditioned motor coach that starts in northeastern Wyoming and travels eastward across the top of the state and into South Dakota.

After a night in Jackson, head to Yellowstone via Grand Tetons National Park. This gorgeous prehistoric mountain range reveals dense forests and towering peaks. Once at Yellowstone National Park, you’ll spend 2 days admiring this amazing landscape of mountains, valleys, canyons, rivers and geothermal features. Your guided walk takes you to Old Faithful geyser and cascading Lower Yellowstone Falls — be sure to have your camera ready!

Leave this national park and continue to your ranch at Clearmont, passing through Shoshone Canyon and Absaroka Rocky Mountains to the Wild West Town of Cody. At Cody, learn more about America's great legends at the Buffalo Bill Center of the West. Before leaving the ranch the next day, enjoy a horseback-riding experience in picturesque mountain foothills. Then, travel to Devils Tower National Monument for a tour of this area. The tower is a fantastic geological splendor more than 4 football fields high.

On the way to Custer State Park for 2 days, stop in Deadwood and hop on Kevin Costner's Original Deadwood Tour. You’ll journey back to the time of the Old West where you’ll learn about local history and landmarks, such as Mount Morah Cemetery, the resting place of gunslinger Wild Bill Hickok and frontierswoman Calamity Jane.

Today’s adventure is all about classic American monuments that include the world’s largest mountain carving, Crazy Horse! Traveling through the Black Hills, arrive at Mount Rushmore that reveals the heads of 4 American presidents carved out of granite rock. Stroll the trail that takes you up close to the monument or the path adorned with flags that leads to a viewing terrace. At Crazy Horse Memorial, you’ll come face to face with this iconic Sioux leader.

On your final day, you’ll travel southward through South Dakota to Colorado to your departure flight in Denver.

What we love:
• Wildlife abounds in Yellowstone — keep your eye out for black bears, nesting birds, wolves, bison, elk, ravens, coyotes and pronghorn, but remember to keep your distance!
• Buffalo Bill Center of the West comprises 5 museums featuring paintings and sculptures, objects from the Plains Indians, historic American firearms and much more.
• The incredible butte of Devils Tower is made up of hundreds of parallel cracks. It’s also a sacred place steeped in Native American legend.
• To honor the Native Americans of the area, the carving of Crazy Horse began more than 60 years ago and continues to be a work in progress.
• To maximize your enjoyment, download the DreamTrips™ app to access DreamTrips Local — then earn points on dining, entertainment, spa experiences & more at select spots recommended by DreamTrippers just like you!

Destination

Nestled on Wyoming’s Jackson Hole valley floor, between the Teton mountains and Snake River, is the lively town of Jackson. Its downtown has a main square with popular attractions, especially George Washington Memorial Park and its series of antler-inspired arches. Jackson is considered a gateway for those wishing to explore Grand Teton National Park and Yellowstone National Park.

Yellowstone National Park, the world’s first national park, boasts a massive collection of natural wonders — more than 10,000 hydrothermal features that include 500 geysers, 280 waterfalls like famous Lower Falls, 131 miles of lake shoreline, 3,000 species of birds and 67 species of mammals. Undoubtedly, visitors find it nearly impossible to experience everything in one day!

Established as a town in 1892, Clearmont, Wyoming, began as a small farming and ranching community that’s easily accessible to Devils Tower National Monument. Visitors can check out the town’s historic Clearmont Jail, Old Rock School and Ucross Foundation Art Gallery.

The small city of Lead in South Dakota was founded in 1876 after the discovery of gold and the opening of Homestake Gold Mine. Now closed down, the mine welcomes visitors to see the Open Cut pit and the mining process. Lead’s location in the Black Hills makes it a haven for outdoor enthusiasts, like fishing fans at Sheridan Lake or downhill skiers at Deer Mountain.

South Dakota’s Custer State Park enjoys the designation as one of the world’s top 10 wildlife destinations, due to more than 1,500 free-roaming buffalo. Its Black Elk Peak beckons serious hikers to summit its top, while Sylvan Lake invites water-sports lovers to swim, boat or fish.
